(IsraelNN.com) An unexpected meteor cut through Israel’s sky from east to west last night, causing panic throughout central Israel and bafflement among astronomers who failed to predict it.

Israeli astronomers noted that the meteor entered the atmosphere in the same direction as the Earth’s rotation; this factor made is especially bright and also relatively slow as it travelled across the night sky.
