State Representative and attorney Antonio Maestas spoke at the anti-Israel rally held in Old Town Albuquerque, NM on Saturday, January 10, with a speech so strongly anti-American and anti-Israel that he roused cries of “allahu akbar!” from some of the Muslims in attendance. The video below, shot by a pro-Israel activist, records most of Maestas’ speech and the jihadist cries of people in attendance, in response to his comments. After the jihadist cries, Maestas said the crowd was mature enough to separate “our Jewish brothers and the Children of Israel” from Israeli government policies. Apparently that isn’t the case, and his gloss was not very convincing considering the rest of his speech and the crowd’s reaction.
Maestas said “This is our street corner today! This is our city today!” implying that when anti-Israel protests went on, regular citizens no longer had equal rights to the town.
Maestas referred to Obama as “OUR” president, speaking to the radical crowd gathered before him. Evidently Maestas does not think of Obama as a president of all the US citizens, but only of his special interest, whatever that may be.
Maestas spoke of Israeli “violations of international law”, making false and unsupported claims, a common mantra in his circles. To the delight of the crowd, he publicly broke two major sets of “international law”.
Maestas clearly displayed what has been defined as anti-semitism in EU and UN definitions, by comparing support of Israel to Nazism. Maestas called Israeli actions and US support of Israel, “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity” and said the UN should prosecute the Bush administration as war criminals because they did not condemn Israel and sent military aid.
The US sends even more aid to apartheid, corrupt, oppressive Arab League nations who have made war on Palestinian terrorists who tried to overthrow their governments. Several Arab countries have expelled large Palestinian populations from their countries. Where is the outrage? It is not for Palestinians, who seem to be despised by their Arab brethren, except when propaganda is needed.
Likewise, by supporting the avowedly genocidal regimes of Hamas, Fatah and the PLO, he himself supports genocide.
If “international law” were upheld against any entity but Israel, or any nationality other than Israeli, Maestas and most of the crowd present at this protest would be liable to be brought before a UN court.
By defending and glorifying Hamas, an illegal terrorist organization in the US, he also broke US law, and his oath of office.
Not only were Maestas’ comments illegal, they were stupid. Is there apartheid in Gaza? Only Hamas can create that. Israel does not rule Gaza. Hamas rules Gaza, so if the government is apartheid, Hamas is to blame. Likewise Maestas blamed Israel for the crime in Gaza and murder in Gaza. Hundreds of videos and accounts show that Hamas is responsible for that.
Maestas called for the “liberation of Palestine” and joined in the regular chants of “free free Palestine”. “Liberation of Palestine” a synonym for “death to Israel” and the attending death to Jews. Plainly he and the rabble meant all of Israel, not just those parts marked as Palestinian in the two state solution disaster. Maestas will be aware that the aims of both Hamas and the PLO/Fatah government of Judea and Samaria is to destroy Israel and kill the Jews who live there. He became very passionate for that to happen, yet another crime on Maestas’ part.
As a government official, to make such comments is a breach of the public trust and a serious abuse of his office, however minor that office may be in the grand scheme of things. Maestas should be put out of office and replaced with an honorable man.
