Israel’s Emergency Response Teams in Haiti

The IDF and Zaka sent some of the first emergency responders to Haiti. Their teams were there less than 48 hours after the earthquake which nearly destroyed Port Au Prince and has probably killed probably between 100,000 and 200,000 people. The IDF set up the first field hospital, and it is fully equipped. The Israeli field hospital is still the only fully equipped field hospital in Haiti, and Israel is the only nation to have sent a full medical team to Haiti. Doctors without Borders is the only other medical team in action on Haiti, and they are less well equipped. The Israeli field hospital was mentioned in Fox news, and then finally in CNN, briefly. Israel also sent emergency rescue teams and rescue dogs to Haiti, as they do for every nation which suffers a major natural disaster.

Arab nations had sent no aid or teams, until almost a week had gone by, when the international community finally were able to shame Katar and the UAE into helping out. They set up a flight on Sunday, which arrived on Monday, nearly a week after the quake. Islamic nations are not highly motivated to prevent death and misery, especially of infidels. Many other nations did send rescue teams and aid, and agreed to contributed millions for reconstruction, but Israel was among the first, and among the most effective, as usual.

The US government quickly took control of the airport and began making political arrangements to rebuild Haiti later, and the UN was busy screwing things up and getting in the way. Israel got its people and aid out where it was needed, immediately. Many US Civilian aid teams and volunteers also made it out quickly to the destruction and began to help where it was needed, but there weren’t enough to make much of a dent in the massive destruction and misery that they found. The much maligned Government of Israel, like the American public and religious volunteers that the US government despises, dropped everything and left for Haiti as soon as they heard the news. Meanwhile, at the airport, most of the aid sent from around the world sat stacked up, under military guard, lest a Haitian sneak in and get some of what had been sent to them. Evidently the US forgot to send enough helicopters to distribute it.
