In Israel, a Lebanese Army officer ambushed an IDF detail in Israel, killing one officer and seriously wounding another. The Lebanese guy called the press in before doing his ambush. Lebanon predictably says nobody ordered him to do that. Even UNIFIL, Lebanon’s cover is aghast and said the Lebanese Army is at fault and the IDF isn’t. The US and most Western countries agreed that was a little over the top for Lebanon, and Israel has a right to be upset. Israel is waiting to see if the Lebanese officer gets any serious punishment. If so, no attack. If not, Lebanon gets attacked. Everyone else is waiting to see what happens next. In the meantime, Israel might be preparing a large attack Lebanon in the meantime, as it promised, in case the results are unsatisfactory regarding the Lebanese Army murderer. Or maybe Israel will let it ride.

Near the same time Hamas shot a grad rocket at Ashkelon and smaller rockets at Sderot, doing considerable damage in Ashkelon. They’ve been shooting quite a few rockets lately. Israel made a raid into Gaza, nothing real spectacular, but hopefully very effective. Nobody talked much about it. Even Hamas didn’t make it’s usual fuss, and the NGO’s and UN didn’t say anything.

Near the same time UNRWA, the Arab support mechanism, made a public complaint that the medical care problems in Gaza are due to Hamas, not Israel. Hamas doesn’t deliver the medical supplies sent to Gaza, but instead steals them and sells them.

Also near the same time, Israel complained, about UNRWA and the US funding education for Arab children throughout Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and Gaza that teaches them to hate Jews and desire genocide and war.

In the Sinai, near the same time, Hamas tried to attack Eilat with more large rockets. They over shot and hit Aqaba in Jordan instead, killing one Jordanian and injuring several. There has also been a peculiar silence about this. What will Jordan do? What will Israel do? Jordan has so far been sympathetic towards Hamas when it attacks Israel. Egypt is in an awkward position since the attack on two nations came from it’s territory. No doubt many things are happening in the background. Jordan can’t condemn or attack Hamas or Egypt, and certainly not Israel. Will Jordan let it ride?

Russia has sent Iran four of its coveted S-300 missile systems. Russia sold them to Iran, then held back due to world pressure. Then it said it wouldn’t. Instead, it’s sneaking them to Iran through Belorussia, which is a good friend of Iran. The UN and US did apply harder sanctions to Iran, in hopes the people might get so miserable and desperate they might be able to overthrow the Mullahs and Ahmadinejad this time. It certainly won’t slow down the Iranian nuclear program. Even if the government were overthrown, the nuclear program would continue. None of the Iranian dissident groups wants to scrap the nuclear program. The hope is simply that it won’t be run by genocidal religious fanatics. Rumors have been flying for years that Israel or the US will attack any day, and that the US threatens Israel if it attacks Iran. Iran accuses the US and Israel of sending in agents to do sabotage, foment unrest, etc. That would be an extremely sensible policy, especially for Israel, but risks being insufficient.

All this happened in less than a week. Possibly another war will erupt soon in Lebanon and Gaza. The rest of the world is not taking any just action on behalf of Israel in the face of these attacks and provocations, like it might for some other country, because most of the world is against Israel. However, even the many enemies can’t find anything to say against Israel in these matters for now. The world is only waiting to see what will happen next.

For Israel vs. Iran, Israel vs. Lebanon, Israel vs. Gaza, Israel vs. UN, Israel vs. US, Israel vs. everyone, the world is waiting to see what will happen next.
