Here is what the anti-Israel people in Albuquerque did as part of the nationwide protest thing on the approximate anniversary of Israel’s attack on Hamas last year. It’s a small and dreary affair with speeches that nobody listened to, maudlin poetry, an Arab boy practicing propaganda, a Jewish woman trying to use the Kaddish against Israel and a Catholic man showing his ignorance. They couldn’t even get the luminarias lit.
But for us it was a great event. Why? Because there were no Palestinian flags waving, no Arab students yelling, no threats of jihad, no councilmen saying Hamas’ time had come, no teenagers yelling allahu akbar, no threats against Jews. It was nothing like the excesses of last year, because the public was disgusted and Jews and Christians stood up to fight it, and won this round by the looks of this year’s event.
However, it is only the tactics that have changed, not the hatred towards Israel. Now these anti-Israel fanatics are trying to get a divestment and sanction movement going in Albuquerque and have put up another anti-Israel propaganda billboard. But they had to take many steps back because people stood up to these bigots and are still standing up to them. Going by the comments of passers-by, and support for the little pro-Israel display across the street, they are not exactly winning the hearts and minds of the public.
