The US National Intelligence Estimate on Iran, published in December, 2007 caused a major stir and serious reconsiderations among American allies in the Mideast and elsewhere by saying that Iran had stopped its nuclear weapons program in 2003 and was not likely to develop nuclear weapons in the forseeable future.
