This is the interview on Al Jazeera on February 21, 2006 which made Dr. Wafa Sultan famous. The interview was recorded and translated by Memri and broadcast recently on “God’s Learning Channel”, the Christian Television station based in Midland, Texas.
In this interview she said that Islam created the “clash of cultures” from its beginnings, by setting itself against all non-Muslim people in the world. She called Islam backwards and medieval, and other cultures normal and advanced. She said that Islam needed to contribute to the world before demanding respect in the world and compared the Islamic world to other groups which did not respond with violence to even serious provocations, and to Jews, who had overcome persecution and the Holocaust and gained respect not by revenge, but by working hard and contributing to the world. She said that she was neither Muslim, Christian nor Jewish, and it was nobody’s business what anyone else believed.
