Interesting thought, Russian soldiers along side American and Nato soldiers in Afghanistan, after the US did all it could to see Russia defeated in Afghanistan. Maybe they only want advice from Russia on how to make a winning strategy in the region.
BRUSSELS, October 21 (Itar-Tass) –The Russia-NATO Council on Wednesday began regular expert consultations on practical cooperation between Russia and the alliance in Afghanistan, Russian permanent representative to NATO Dmitry Rogozin said.
“The Council is meeting in an expanded format today at the level of ambassadors to discuss solely Afghanistan and security in that region,” he said.
“High-ranking experts from capitals have arrived specifically for the meeting, including Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Second Asian Department Ali Mustafabeili, Deputy Head of the German Foreign Ministry’s Department for Afghanistan Thomas Sahnheisen, Head of the Department of South Asia and Afghanistan in the British Foreign Office Karen Piers, and Deputy U.S. Presidential Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Paul Jones,” Rogozin said.
He stressed that the meeting would “open a series of permanent contacts on Afghanistan between Russia and NATO at the ambassadorial and expert levels”.
