Interesting that this interview from 1958 could be repeated today, so little has changed. Likewise familiar are Wallace’s questions and charges (whether expressing his own views or whether he was playing “devil’s advocate”), that assume Israel is imperialist (before 1967!), occupying Arab lands (this phrase wasn’t in common use yet, pre-Arafat), moral equivalence, predictions of doom, the relationship between Israel and the diaspora, dual loyalties, the effect of a recession in the US on support for Israel, the US best interests, friendship with Israel and Arab states…and much more…very educational, very clear. And with Parliament cigarette commercials!
